For over 136 years, parents of children who attended the Mohawk Institute were robbed of their ability to care for their children. This summer, a group of intergenerational Survivors – youth aged 17-29 – stepped forward to partner with Survivors in the search for unmarked burials and missing children using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology.
At a special council meeting held on May 17, 2022, Brantford City Council unanimously supported a Notice of Motion that calls on the federal and provincial governments, as well as the Anglican Church, to release all documents in the possession of the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and the Anglican Church related to the former Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School to Survivors’ Secretariat immediately.
Survivors are utilizing technology to help fulfill their mandate of uncovering and sharing the truth about what happened at the Mohawk Institute.
